Through friends of friends with connections, we obtained some Impossible “meat”, which is not meat at all but a plant-based protein, which looks, cooks, and tastes much like beef. We’ve eaten Impossible before, as burgers, and we really liked it. So we were excited about the possibility to try cooking it ourselves. Though honestly, there isn’t much to say about the experience, because it was pretty much exactly like cooking beef hamburgers. The protein feels like ground beef when you’re handling it, and it sears in a similar way. We made burgers with whole-wheat sourdough burger buns, caramelized onion, arugula, cucumber, and a blue cheese dressing. For someone who loves beef but is trying to eat plant-based foods instead, Impossible is a good option for satisfying a craving once in a while. Yeah, I’m looking forward to when this is sold in stores.
