I have a new blog! Or at least, my blog, which began over here, now looks new and it’s in a new place. I’m very excited about this.
The new space with the new design is a very early birthday gift (my birthday is not for another two months) from my very thoughtful husband. He even migrated all the posts from where they used to be to here, and let me tell you, I have so many drafts lined up that this was a very thankless task. It also ended up being a reason why I got the gift early.
When I first started blogging, I posted very infrequently at best. And each spring, there’s a gap, where looks like I took a hiatus from blogging. In reality, it wasn’t a particularly conscious choice, it’s just that I got kind of overwhelmed with work, since spring is a time of deadlines for the graduate students in my program.
But now I’ve started posting more regularly, and, as mentioned, I have a bunch of posts lined up already. So many things to say and to cook. And because Paulus was keeping the new blog space a secret, he had to keep on top of all the drafts I wrote and all the little changes I made, without letting on what he was up to. I’m happy he chose to reveal the gift when he did. I fear he would have been worn down by the time my actual birthday came around otherwise.
Upon receiving this incredible surprise, I spent all day yesterday looking forward to getting to know the new space and making it mine. It’s still a work in progress, but I think my recipes shall be comfortable here.
To conclude this post, I figured a photo of Paulus, me and food would be appropriate. It turns out we don’t really have any of those. I was astounded at first given of much of our relationship involves food, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense, and I really only have myself to blame for the current state of affairs. I’m extremely un-photogenic and consequently rather unwilling to pose for photos. I’m also a very bad photographer (though I’m working on it). And finally, whenever we’re at a restaurant, I’m way more interested in eating the food than taking pictures of it. Hence, this photo is the best I could do. Perhaps this new blog can be a chance to remedy the situation?
